The Formuler Z12 line runs Android 12 and plays 4K IPTV with Gigabit Ethernet on every model, so the choice between them comes down to storage, Wi-Fi and the remote. The Z12 Ultra is the most complete, the Z12 Ultra SE keeps its fast Wi-Fi with less memory, and the Z12 Pro is the entry model. The older Z11 Pro Max is still a strong alternative. Every specification below comes from Formuler’s product pages, retrieved 2026-10-29.

What the Formuler Z12 Ultra does
The Z12 Ultra is Formuler’s most complete box: an Android 12 receiver built around IPTV, with 128GB of storage, tri-band Wi-Fi 6E and Gigabit Ethernet. It ships with the MyTVOnline app, where you add your IPTV service once and get live channels, the TV guide and on-demand titles in one place.
Its extras matter in daily use:
- Storage. 128GB leaves room for guide data, other apps and updates without clean-ups.
- Wireless. Tri-band Wi-Fi 6E can use the 6 GHz band with a compatible router, which helps in crowded apartment buildings.
- Remote. The BT3 remote is backlit, which is easier in a dark room.
If you watch only live TV over an Ethernet cable, much of that headroom goes unused, which is where the Ultra SE and the Pro come in.
Z12 or Z11: is the newer box better for IPTV?
For pure IPTV playback, the differences are smaller than the model names suggest. Every box in the table has a 4K decoder and a Gigabit Ethernet port, which is what HD and 4K IPTV need on a wired connection.
The newer Z12 boxes win on:
- Android version: Android 12 instead of 11, which matters for app compatibility over the coming years;
- Wireless: Wi-Fi 6E on the Ultra and Ultra SE, if you cannot run a cable;
- App: the Z12 Pro and Ultra SE ship with MyTVOnline 4, the newest version Formuler lists.
The Z11 Pro Max still has an edge over the Z12 Pro on memory: 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage against 2GB and 16GB. If you find a Z11 Pro Max for less than a Z12 Pro, it remains a sensible choice. Owners of the older line can read our guide to the Formuler Z10 to decide whether an upgrade is worth it.
Which Formuler box fits your home?
- Z12 Ultra: you want the most storage, Wi-Fi 6E and the backlit remote, and you also use other Android apps.
- Z12 Ultra SE: you want Wi-Fi 6E and the backlit remote, but 64GB of storage and 2GB of RAM are enough for you.
- Z12 Pro: the box will be wired to the router and used mainly for IPTV; 16GB is enough for MyTVOnline and a few apps.
- Z11 Pro Max: you find it at a good price and want 4GB of RAM; Android 11 is fine for your use.
What Wi-Fi 6E needs from your router
The Z12 Ultra and Z12 Ultra SE list tri-band Wi-Fi 6E, which adds the 6 GHz band to the usual 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. You only get that extra band if your router also supports Wi-Fi 6E; with an older router, the box connects on 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz like any other Wi-Fi device. The 6 GHz band is short-range, so it helps most when the box and the router are in the same room or the next one. For a box behind several walls, an Ethernet cable or a mesh point nearby does more than the Wi-Fi version.
Buying a Z12 Ultra: what to check
Before you pay, check three things on the listing. First, the exact model name: Z12 Pro, Z12 Ultra and Z12 Ultra SE are different boxes with different storage and memory. Second, the warranty and who honors it, especially from a marketplace seller. Third, the remote in the box, since replacement remotes are model-specific. Formuler also notes that usable storage is lower than the listed figure, so do not plan on the full 128GB.
The Formuler remote
Each Formuler box comes with its own remote, and the models differ:

- The Z12 Ultra and Z12 Ultra SE use the BT3 backlit remote, which connects over Bluetooth.
- The Z12 Pro uses Formuler’s Bluetooth voice remote (GTV-BT1).
- The older Z10 Pro Max ships with a learning IR remote (GTV-IR1), which can copy buttons from your TV remote.
A Bluetooth remote has to be paired with the box the first time; follow the instructions that come with the box. If you lose or break a remote, buy a replacement listed for your exact model, because Bluetooth and IR versions are not interchangeable.
Setting up IPTV on a Formuler box
Setup is the same on every model: connect the box by HDMI and, if you can, by Ethernet, open MyTVOnline, add a new portal with the Xtream Codes login from your provider’s welcome email, then wait for the channels and guide to load. Our Formuler and MAG setup guide walks through each step and field. To test a service before you subscribe, request a 24-hour free trial: the Xtream Codes login works in every MyTVOnline version. For other kinds of receivers, compare the options in our guide to the best IPTV box, and see the MAG box guide for the other box built only for IPTV.
Questions people ask
Does Formuler require a subscription?
No. A Formuler box has no monthly fee of its own and comes with no channels. To watch live TV, you add an IPTV service, which is a separate subscription from the provider you choose.
Is a Formuler box legal?
A Formuler box is ordinary streaming hardware, like any Android TV box. What matters is the service you watch on it; our guide on whether IPTV is legal in the USA covers that question in plain English.
Where can I buy a Formuler Z12?
Formuler boxes are sold online, by Formuler-branded stores and by large retailers. Buy from a seller that offers a warranty, and check the exact model name, because Z12 Pro, Z12 Ultra and Z12 Ultra SE are different boxes.
Are Formuler boxes good for IPTV?
Yes, for people who want a box built around IPTV. Formuler ships its MyTVOnline app on every model, so channels, the guide and on-demand titles sit in one place, and the boxes run Android for other apps.
